History

Scheduling Dynamics is an Illinois based privately held corporation founded by Paul Anderson which specializes in providing consulting services to the retail supermarket, drug store and general merchandise industry. Since 1975, the company and its principals have provided services to more than 50 North American supermarket chains in the area of store operations, warehousing and administrative support management (merchandising, accounting and technical services). More specifically, the company works directly with the Chief Executive Officer or top Operations executive in establishing work norms and standards to improve customer service and store profitability, resulting in reduced labor costs, improved sales, increased gross margins and reduced product shrink.

CEO Bio

Paul K. Anderson, President of Scheduling Dynamics has lectured for Food Marketing Institute, the National Association of Wholesale Grocers, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Cornell University and Northwestern University. He was a contracted speaker on implementing financial systems for Advanced Management Research. He has advised Cornell University on content for its supermarket Home Study Course.

He is the author of Effective Labor Scheduling published by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores under a grant from SmithKline Corporation and has been featured in Supermarket News, Drug Store News, Progressive Grocer and Drug Topics. He is recognized by Who's Who in American Business 1995-96 and 1999-2000 as a leader in the consulting and supermarket industry.

Anderson holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago and a BS from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.

He was previously Director of Point of Sale Systems for Loblaw, Ltd. He coordinated the development of operating software for supermarket point of sale systems and served on the Universal Product Code operating committee. He was also Vice President, Research and Development for Jewel Food Stores and served as Jewel Companies, Inc. representative of the Illinois Governor's Agency Head Compensation Committee.

Recent Milestones

Scheduling Dynamics has completed an organizational review of ThriveDC, a Washington DC based non-profit providing meals and counseling referrals for the homeless community.  SD was engaged by the Board of Directors to prepare recommendations for staffing, accounting and fundraising; and suggestions for additional outreach to the area homeless. SD provided templates for evaluating budgeted goals, including monthly financial comparisons and a dashboard for measuring outreach effectiveness.
